Ruuuuuude

This morning’s breakfast was a powerful breakfast cookie full of all sorts of things to make me healthy and alert.

In the overnight mix: 1/4 cup BRM extra thick rolled oats, 1 tbsp ground flax, the last tbsp (sad) of pineapple-coconut-ginger peanut butter, 1 tbsp goji berries, and 1/3 mashed banana.

In the frosting: 2 tbsp plain yogurt, 1 tsp lucuma power, and 1 tsp Artisana Cacao Bliss.

And on top: small handful blackerries, 1 chopped plummy gummy from my sister’s birthday package, a few more goji berries, and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

This cookie reminded me of the beach — I think it was the goji starfish, the icing sand, and the plate ocean.

Breakfast was delicious, and I really needed the power boost since I slept horrendously last night. From about 1:30 to 2:00 in the morning, there were dogs howling sooooo loud outside my bedroom window. I live in Brooklyn (not the wilderness), and this is ridiculous! My bedroom window faces a backyard area that houses the yards of a whole block of apartment buildings, so it’s impossible to know where the noise was coming from, especially in the dark. I almost called the police to make a noise complaint! Not only was it keeping me awake, but it was painful to listen to because one dog was howling/screaming in this hyperventilating, panicked, scared-out-of-its-mind way — it kind of sounded human!

I can’t believe that the owners would just leave him outside and ignore that sad sad pleading … especially in the middle of the night when there are at least 100 people trying to sleep within a 10-foot radius! Again, this is Brooklyn and not a mountain town where no one has neighbors. I closed my window, and it didn’t help at all. The dog moaning eventually stopped, but it kept coming back here and there throughout the rest of the night. And the birds woke me up at 7am! Where the heck am I? Arkansas? I need to get new ear plugs!

Anyway, I think I’m about to go take a nap!

What wakes you in the middle of the night?

I’m sorry about the dogs! I am always woken up by people outside the house ’cause I live across a school yard and all these hooligans think they can hang out there at like 4 in the morning! Psh.

Uhhh…but you know what keeps me up at night right now? The thought of going to this very soon: http://www.awashnyc.com/

Oh gosh, that sounds terrible. The other night, I heard a cat making those same kind of pained, hurt, wailing noises. It was terrible and so sad! I totally agree; what kind of owner ignores that?? 😦

Usually though, I often hear train noises at like 3 or 4am. It keeps me awake at night, but in a pleasant, calming way. I just lay in bed and think while listening to the trains and falling back asleep. 🙂

Wow, sorry to hear about the dogs. I just got home from school for the summer, but when I was at my apartment at school, I’d always get woken up by drunk people outside my window. It was soooo annoying.
    That breakfast cookie looks delicious!

That cookie is a work of art. If the Food Network had an “Ace of Breakfast Cookies” you would have to be on it.

Sorry about the dog 😦 Maybe earplugs would work? The only thing that wakes me up in the middle of the night is my bladder…

    Your breakfast does look delish!

That sucks about the noise. In my neighborhood I have to deal with car alarms and drunk people walking back from the bars. Oddly enough, I live like a block from a train and that NEVER wakes me up!

    Love the blackberries!
Almost nothing can wake me up at night. I’m a very heavy sleeper. But one time I had a cat scratching his paw on the window to my bedroom and screeching (from outside). It was terrible. I kept banging on the window to get the thing to go away. I don’t know what was wrong with it.

I’ve been woken up by people honking in my parking lot in the middle of the night. Like they’re here to pick up someone from my apartment building to go party at 2AM, and instead of calling them (or knocking on their door) they just honk their horn over and over again. It’s super rude. Once I almost ran down there to yell at them, but I figured I would probably get shot. That’s Miami for you.

I HATE hearing my neighbor’s music. I think that is so rude they left their dogs out to bark that late at night. I would’ve def. called the police!!

Yikes–that is exactly why I sleep with earplugs + eyemask EVERY night! I rarely get woken up because of those, but I don’t think there are any dogs in our building!
Your cookie looks great. I need to perfect my technique a little but the frosting is a MUST! 🙂
