Sarah food

I just realized that my two-ish posts per day usually end up divided very neatly between two categories: work food and Sarah food. I always bring my own food to work but am flexible depending on what else presents itself (and a lot presents itself!), but breakfast (and dinner, if I’m still hungry enough) are all about what I want. And, generally, after all my treats at work, what I want is healthy.

In true HEAB eat-what-I-want-for-dinner style, I whipped up a batch of exactly what I was craving last night: spinach oats 😀 Last night’s immersion-blended mix involved 1/3 cup oat bran, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp lucuma powder, 1 cup water, 1 chopped peach (meant for a snack earlier in the day), 3 cups spinach, TJ’s smoky peach salsa (!!), vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom. I topped it off with a spoonful of homemade peanut butter, a spoonful of cacao bliss, unsweetened coconut, and hulled hemp seed:

(Can you hear the spot being hit?!)

For dessert, I had the last couple spoonfuls of chia-tapioca pudding with 1/4 cup Edy’s Samoas ice cream (plus some renegade spoonfuls straight from the carton).

The glow is from So You Think You Can Dance reflecting on the floor, where I carried out the ice cream photo shoot.

This morning was back to the gym for 15 minutes stepmill, arms/chest, 15 minutes bike (and rainy walks to and from!) followed by more spinach oats!

This time, the immersion-blended mix involved 1/4 cup oat bran, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 cup water, 2 tbsp unsweetened soymilk, 1 chopped apple, 3 cups spinach, vanilla, and all the spices. I topped it with blueberries, unsweetened coconut, hemp seeds, and homemade peanut butter.

And, in case you didn’t hear me go on and on enough about the half marathon on Saturday, you can now see even more pictures that actually prove I was running during the whole thing right here 😀

When was the last time (if ever) that you ate the same thing for dinner and then again for breakfast the next morning? What was your reasoning for doing so?

Mmmm…that looks so good! I usually justify having the same thing if I have leftovers or ingredients that need to be used up (the other 1/2 of an apple, etc…)

All your bowls of spinach oats have me drooling Sarah, and I’m so glad your dinner hit the spot! Thanks for the shout-out.

How often do I eat the same things for dinner and breakfast? Too many to count! Breakfast for dinner makes me so happy. 🙂

    Congrats on your half!!!!!!!

Same thing for breakfast and dinner? Um…that’s happened a few times with oatmeal, eggs, and pizza, definitely.

Umm I haven’t done it in a long time but back in my college years it wasn’t unheard to have pizza for dinner and then breakfast the next day. Cringe inducing to think about now.

Love the oats! The last time I had my breakfast oats combo for dinner was about 2 months ago, when my stomach hurt and I wanted something easy on my tummy.

You look so cute in the pictures! Those are some really nice ones. Congrats again on the half 😀

hahah I have to say, i’m guilty of eating cereal sometimes at eveyr meal…the same combo with pf puffins, sunshine kashi, and kix…just because it tastes so good!! It’s like my type of comfort food. 🙂

How in the world do you manage to outdo yourself in breakfast combo’s every day?!?! Jeesh….you definitely need to have a recipe book WITH pictures. I’d buy it LIKETHAT!

Uhhhh, this morning I did just that! I was craving savory this morning, so when I opened up the fridge and saw the leftover penne that was sitting there, I couldn’t resist. I also had a dark chocolate brownie with raspberry cream cheese frosting that I made for dessert last night. Maybe this means I’ll have a big bowl of oats for dinner tonight…

I used to be on a cereal kick where I had it like 3 times a day, breakfast, snack, and dinner! Now I’ve been switchin it up more.

Love the spinach oats! It’s like getting the benefits of a green monster but better because it include oats too!

breakfast is the only time I have yet to include spinach…green oats are so pretty I might have to try it!

I eat dinner + breakfast repeats all the time…everything from lasagne to muesli/fruit/yogurt combos. Mostly because I’m lazy. Sometimes because I am broke. But yeah…mostly laziness 😛

I think I’ve only eaten pizza for dinner and then breakfast. I usually stick to traditional foods.
Great idea for oats! What did you think of the salsa?

I live and die for SYTYCD, which is proven by the fact that I’m too cool to type the whole show’s name out. Perhaps a joint viewing is in order this summer?!

Your tapioca/chia pudding looks so damn good that I have decided I definitely must have my leftover chai-tapioca pudding for dessert tonight. So it is written, so it shall be done. I love that phrase. 🙂

wow those oats are crazy! i bet they are very good, i would just never think to put all those things together!!! my food is divided too, between what i eat with other people and what i eat by myself. im finding that everything i cook myself is usually healthier, more filling, and more delicious!!!

Awesome running photos Sarah! I always look like hell in my running photos- you don’t at all! 🙂

I am all for eating what you crave- good plan!! I have had the same thing at night and then again in the morning simply because I am a creature of habit and if I am craving something, I usually want it more than once to get it out of my system.

    Your oats look soooooo good!

    Have a great night!

Definitely no shame in eating what you crave–even if it does mean lots of repeats. I feel oddly pressured by blogging to not repeat too many things; I don’t want to bore anyone. It sucks because sometimes you just want that yogurt bowl you had for breakfast for lunch too! 😛 But I certainly don’t mind seeing repeats–just FYI. 😀
