Monday funday

Mondays are hard, but they are made considerably more palatable by the usual beginning-of-the-week food explosion at work.

I love that conference room table 😀

That is the sight that greeted me when I walked into my 9:30 meeting on Monday morning. Rosalie and Nydia wanted our meeting to have a celebratory aspect, and I was happy to oblige by eating the decorations. I’d already had breakfast, but I figured I might as well have an early lunch part 1!

I had two giant bowls of fruit like this:

Plus the half apple that didn’t make it into my fruit bowl(s), topped with a babybel cheese:

And half of a heated banana walnut muffin with peanut butter:

The pb got all melty and gooey and stick-to-my-mouthy … and I wanted to have 30 more halves like this. But I did not listen to that craving because this was also on the conference room table:

Jessica came back from her Disneyworld vacation and brought the office a bag of Goofy taffy. And it was a health-conscious bag, believe it or not:

The bag claimed easy portion control, so I threw caution to the wind and had at least twice what you see here:

(With the Tinkerbell notepad that Jessica also brought back for me :-D)

Mildred saved the day from sugar temporarily when she gave me the rest of her lunch salad with chicken and avocado:

I added the CSA broccoli I had brought for a snack with some yogurt-mango chutney dressing:

Plus half of a mini cinnamon bun left from the morning meeting:

And that was lunch part 2.

When I got back from my afternoon visits, Deborah instantly handed me 1/4 of the chocolate mint cupcake she had gotten from the advocacy department downstairs:

Mmmmm, Deborah definitely knows how to select a cupcake.

When I opened my email, I saw that Pura had sent out an alert that there were still tons of excess donated goodies downstairs, so I ran down and took up a collection that included a cinnamon muffin, two cream cheese frosted carrot cupcakes, two slices of lemon-iced angel food cake, and a pb&j crumb square 😛

I ate some crumbs and packed the rest up for home, where I promptly chopped them all up into small pieces and added them to my freezer bag … and ate some more crumbs 😛

What is the hardest day of your week, and what makes it easier?

You just reminded me how much I LOVE angel food cake! Ack, next mission: to hunt down a mix.

Sundays are my hardest days…not sure why but planning something fun makes them less of a drag (and the transition to another week more bearable). Always an extra fun meal/snack thrown in there too 😉

I love how what you snagged from downstairs! 🙂

I’m on summer break now which means every day is easy peasy, but for the past two semesters and next semester as well, Tuesdays SUCK because I have class from like 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., so I’m on campus all day long.

After the first few weeks, I get used to it and actually look forward to surviving Tuesdays! Plus, it helps that I only have tues & thurs classes 🙂

my conference table NEVER looks like that!

Mondays are the hardest because they’re the busiest, but it makes it easier knowing that the first day of the week is getting done.

You work in such a fun office! That stash of goodies is awesome. I think Tuesday is the toughest day of the week. Monday, you’re usually busy enough to have it fly by, but Tuesday comes around and you realize you still have the rest of the week to get through!

Love the muffin/cupcake – yummy chocolate. And the cheese & apple looks tasty too. I’m not a huge taffy person so that would have been easy to resist – funny how things are appealing to some people more than others.

Ummmm I know you work like crazy but it’s probably all made better by the amazing conference table offerings. I loooooove it. I am inspired to make a banana cake w PB frosting as an ode to you.

Why can’t my office do the Monday morning food explosion? Seems like it would make coming to work WAY more bearable!

Mondays are my worst day just cuz they suck, lol.

That’s quite the score of baked goods!! My office only ever stocks cheap cake and greasy pizza, they need some pointers from yours! 😛

Saturdays are my worst day for work. I’m up at 4am and have to be alseep by 8:30pm for the same wakeup call the next day, so I can’t nap if I want to make that bedtime. It tuckers me out every week!

Yum, I love eating apples with cheese! I usually use swiss, but the Babybel looked great too!

The hardest day of my week is Monday, because I tend to sleep in on the weekends and then on Monday I can’t get out of bed! Then I am tired all day. What makes it easier? Well, lately I’ve been trying to sleep in less on the weekends…but it’s so hard during the summer!

I like apple, I like babybel cheese – but together? Really? I am intruiged…

I love the portion control on the taffy. It’s a nice touch.

I can’t believe you have such yummy cakes around your office! You lucky girl. The cupcake and those donated goodies have really made me envious!

I don’t really have ‘hard’ days now that I’m on holidays. Ask me this again in Februrary when I’m working full-time! In the meantime, my hard decisions including deciding – when in the US, do I go to California or New York first? Haha! Those are the best decisions to have to make 🙂
